Tax disc rate - DVLA 'fess up!
I got my car registered a couple of weeks ago and I thought at the time that the tax seemed a bit more than I had thought - £170. Still, I was so
pleased to get the registration I just paid up and drove off.
A while later I looked up on the DVLA web site and sure enough, £170 is the rate for engines above 1549 cc... since my K series is a 1.4 (1396cc) I
should have paid £110.
Phone call to DVLA central, call back form Maidstone DVLA and they sent me an apology, a new disc and a stamped/addressed return envelope. Now
I've just got to wait for the refund, which is done centrally.
While I am at it, I have to say that Maidstone DVLA (specifically Julie Whittaker) were very helpful with information on the process, etc. and seem
well geared up for kit cars

It's so nice to hear these sorts of stories as so often people have to fight tooth and nail to sort out other peoples mistakes.
Nice one!

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
