How long for the DVLA to allocate a reg number?

I have my DVLA inspection on Thursday morning and I'm still waiting for them to phone me to tell me whet my reg number will be. How long does it normally take them to pick a number?

I had my SVA retest at 10am, was at the DVLA office for inspection & registration at around 1230 and had the registration certificate (not V5 only proof for getting plates made up V927 or something) by 1330

They'll wait until the weather turns. If it stays dry it could take weeks, as soon as it starts raining, that'll be the day it turns up.

Sorry

After going through the rigmorole of phoning Swansea and getting them to fax the local office to ask them to ring me, I went in to ask them face to face. They are waiting to a response to an email sent to Swansea.

Do they not have phones? Is the email guy at Swansea in this week? How hard can it be? No 2 parts are from the same donor = it is a Q plate. Just give me one

I spoke to the DVLA for the 5th time this week and finally they have given me an answer. Because I didn't have a receipt for the axles (I bought them off avoneer) or for the kit (I didn't ask for a receipt) it may take upto a month plus a police inspection before they can allocate a number plate.

I'f they'd told me this earlier in the week then I might have had a chance of getting something before christmas. B*stards.

Just keep jumpin them hurdles. Every one they throw at you, just jump it. You'll be on the road in no time (although it probably seems like a lifetime right now)

Weathers a bit shite right now anyway.
