K&N air filters poking ouot thought the bonnet?

what's the scoop with SVA with K&N air filters poking out through the bonnet?

This seems to be quite common but what needs to be done for SVA?

I imagine the bonnet is cut close around the filters and edged so the radius is ok but what about the the filter elements themselves?

comments and pics appreciated.

Not a problem for me either. The radius on the metal top is marginal but was not raised as a fail. Domed nut as standard.

SVA FAIL - OK so I still need to paint it but at least the pancake filter and mirrors passed. Indicators didn't though. Read that bit wrong!

Go for a sponge one like TIG.

MAC#1 put there pinto cars through without filters as it's not a requirement.

or do this.

i was told at beverley that if i'd not covered it, it'd be a fail.

the edging is rubber u trim, cut at the bottom of the u, with the ends superglued together. if you cut it about 3-4 inches shorter than the circumfrence of the filter, it will hold tightly to the edge.
i actually left it on for a while after sva, as it looks quite neat.

fyi, the gauze itself is too fine to be classified for radius testing.

This is ours before the SVA, changed it now for a K&N.

Decided to run some insulating tape around the top and bottom to cover sharp edges, SVA bloke didn't mention it.

I meant with the twin side draught oval shapped jobbies that sitck out of the side of the bonnet not top..

so once again, a call for pics and SVA issues

K&N passed radius test but it was borderline.
