Questions about forms....
Ok here we go then....these no doubt will be start of many questions to come! So on the VOSA form to apply for an SVA so some simple and some more
complicated questions:
- Morning or Afternoon....are there any advantages to either one or the other?
- I only seemed to need to tick the one box of categories (A - amatuer built) but none of the others, is this right?
- Date vehicle was first made/registered, can I just make this up eg my birthday 2nd March???
- Maximum road speed, again just make this up?? say 120?? I'm running Toyo Proxes and am away from the car anyone know what there rated to?
- Maximum power engine speed, now I know this is how they decide on the rpm to test sound level, so whats a reasonable amount.....4,000rpm or would
that be a bit cheeky??? (1.6 pinto by the way....)
Thanks for your help in advance I'm gonna tackle V55/5 now so will prob be back on in a minute with some fresh questions, but guess the answers
will probably be usefull to other ppl aswell....sorry if this has come up before but I've never noticed it and couldn't find anything
using search.....Cheers Oli.

Put your max speed as 100mph, they may test your speedo up to that. I put my engine max at 5,000 rpm (2.0 pinto) and the Derby tester said," we
noise test pintos at 4,000rpm, put your foot down a bit"
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

No expert at all on the fun of VOSA forms, but what is the speed rating code (W,V etc) on the tyres. Proxes come in many different speed ratings so
its impossible to say what speed theyre capable of without knowing the code (just after the size on the sidewall).
Cant see there being much benefit of a morning vs afternoon appointment, I suppose you could argue if you have a morning slot, they might be more
inclined to let you dissapear and come back with something fixed than bringing it back the next day which would mean a new booking.
AFAIK the date of first reg can be made up, ie the date you present it for test.
There arent any hard and fast rules with things like that, its up to you and your word as the vehicle builder, like most of these things, theyll have
you if you provide knowingly false information.

Ok turns out the DVLA form is a lot more confusing than the SVA (unsurprisingly!) so put down 5,000rpm and 100mph. So here we go:
Confusing bit number 1 - why are some of the questions not required if SVA is present but should be included if known? What is the COC???
- Variant??
- Version??
- Length?? - all not required but should be included if available (ignore or fill it in??)
- HC (g/km) taken from coc or maybe sva??
- Max NET power (KW) 1.6 pinto (do I just guess??)
- Width
- NOx (g/km) - both not required but still do i ignore or fill in???
- Date of original registration
- Date of registration in UK - gonna be a Q plate so don't have a clue/any way to prove it so leave it blank or put 2006 in or Q???
- CO2 g/km again not needed if SVA but leave it blank???
- Mass in service kg (think its 950Kg on the vin plate but someone may be able to confirm if this is the right number or not?!
- CO & HC+NOx (g/km) from the COC whatever that is??!! (don't think it can be left blank!)
- Stationary sound level, leave blank for SVA or enter one?
- Engine speed limit (min-1) to be taken from COC (not required with SVA but should be filled in.....put 5,000 as with SVA one or leave blank??)
- Drive by sound level, not required so leave blank for SVA??
At last thats it! I must seem like a right thicko! Gonna phone DVLA local office tomorow and try to get an appointment for them to come and check
engine numbers etc....whats this technicaly called??? should i be asking for a build up inspection or something else???? Cheers...massive cheers if
anyone can fill me in! Oli.

this helped me lots when i was filling in my forms.
totalkitcar form filling guide
1.6 pinto made 75bhp out of the box, with a peak power output at 4900rpm, iirc. will report back shortly. that's what i put down for mine
anyway. leave all the emissions blank.

I spoke to my local DVLA man when I was filling in forms - he just told me to fill in what I could, and said that he would fix any mistakes and fill
in any omissions.
Can't be sure that every DVLA office will be so helpful...

My 2.0 pinto noise test was conducted at 3,800 revs. They check 75% of max power revs so 5,200 will be somewhere near (im sure my tester took no
notice of the form!).
Fow max speed 105 to 110 mph is reasonable in a 7 with 1.6 pinto. At a guess your tyres will be rated above 120mph.
For the build date put down approx date car was completed. I submitted forms end of November and from memory put the build date down approx 1 week
before. They after date built rather than date you were building.
