No reason why not (SVA)

Ok i have almost finished my car. I just need the exhaust which is on another car at MK's waiting SVA. When said car is SVA'd they will post the exhaust to me so i'm looking at a few weeks. I have applied for a home inspection and beed given a chassis number. I was going to wait till after the inspection before applying for SVA but i don't really have to do i? I can apply now and have the inspection after yes?

Still need to wait for the exhaust though.

No reason why not, just need the chassis number which you have.

Rich.

Once the appointment has been made, you can postpone (within reason) as long as you give enough notice.

I didn't apply for an inspection until after SVA.

Yeah, I'd fill out and send off the forms. It took around 10 days for somebody to contact me to arrange a date and then by then you'll have a better idea as to whether you have the can with you or when you'll be getting it.

Presumably the DVLA inspection to accelerate the issuing of plates?

The inspection is so that you are requesting a V5 and what you have is what you applied for and that the car does exist. Also it's a good chance to clear up any queries for both you and the inspector.

The DVLA never inspected mine, they said if the SVA bloke was happy with the car, that's good enough for them, I even made up my chassis number - which they didn't know until I took the documents to get it registered.
