Amateur Built Declaration
Hi All,
Sorry this goes on a bit......
I applied for SVA last Tuesday and had a letter this morning.
Letter is titled Amateur Built Declaration and is asking for some additional information.
Not sure which box to tick though.....
1. Was the vehicle built by a company or person in the business of building vehicles....or
2. Was the vehicle built by yourself for your own personal use and to be registered on your name....or
3. Was the vehicle built by yourself and individuals acting on your behalf who are not in the business of building vehicles.
I can tick one box..
Question 1 is a definate no
Question 2 could be a yes, I have built the vehicle and it will be registered in my name.
Question 3 could also be a yes, the chassis was manufactured by MK so technically they were 'individuals acting on my behalf' as were ford
who manufactured the running gear, cobra wh manufactured the seats....I could go on.
Has anyone else had this letter, searching the site came up with nothing. I am tempted to go with 3 but figured I would ask the experts first
Section 2 goes on to ask which of the following components have been fitted to the body by you or individuals acting on your behalf, not in the
business of building vehicles...
1. All of the components listed below
2. Engine
3. Body
4. Suspension
5. Axles
6. Transmission
7. Steering assembly.
This one is easy....1.
Any thoughts....????? Does it matter....?????
Regards,
John

Yeh! agree with Peter, you built the car, the chassis would be just another part that you assembled. If you take the other line, you didn't make
the steering wheel, so!!!! If you get my point. Chippy

Hmm I got the amateur declaration as well. got my SVA date a couple of days after I sent it back.
Now I know why!.
Luegos info on the build said tick A and C,
Thats Amateur build and also built by people in the trade of building cars.
I left out the Category C (despite Luegos directive).
I can see what happened. As its declared as totally Amateur built, you have to make the declaration that you did it and its for your use.
Perhaps there is some value in declaring it as A+C on the SVA application form, it will save you a couple of days delay at the least
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff
