No V5

If I don't have a V5 for the donor but I have a reciept for it, can I still be eligible for an age related plate?

I would suggest you ask your local DVLA office as this is one that is likely to vary depending on where you live

Mine was registered at Beverley and I had to produce the V5 and smile nicely to qualify for an age related plate... They wouldn't accept anything else...

Why not apply for the V5 from the DVLA, if you know all the details, just say you lost it. Pay £19 and roberts your mothers brother.

I am more worried that the breaker I bought it off, registered it as scrapped.
Since I bought it in 1999, the yard has closed aswell.
If that did not matter, then I would reapply.

Might it make more sense to err 'use' another donor ?

It surely isn't beyond all possibility

Why bother?...

A number plate is only cosmetic.. Plus a Q Plate is Visual Emissions at MoT time.
They wouldnt give me an age related. I had a reciept, and a picture of the car in the advert. Still ended up with a Q plate.
I'm not bothered, as MoT time has one less thing to worry about

All age related kit cars upto 1998 (S Prefix) are only tested for visual smoke at MOT. No benefit there then...........

Apply anyway, see what happens.

All they can say is no!

I have a copy of the V5, but scrapped the car when it was stripped, as the council would take it away for free if I did so.

I don't see the problem with a Q plate.

But then again, neither are age related plates.
A couple of weeks ago, a link was posted to a draft DVLA document stating that you can't transfer the number you're given as an age related plate. You CAN transfer another age related plate onto your car, but the original goes back to DVLA.
Anyhoo, it's irrelevant to me - I am not a number!
