Collapsable column
I've got the Sierra adjustable column and a Ford/Momo steering wheel boss - both of which have the 'concertina' sections. I read on
here some time ago that the collapsable boss cannot be replaced with a solid one without failing SVA.
Is this right?
I am thinking of using something like this one

I think most people use the standard sierra steering wheel for SVA and then change the wheel afterwards.

That's part of my problem - I can't even get in the car with the Sierra wheel fitted so I need to think of a way of getting a 300mm wheel
modded to be sva friendly.

at 6'3" I am going to have the same problem. Im hoping a 10" wheel with a crash pad will do the trick.

I purposely chose an adjustable column for that very reason (I am a petite 6'2" ) but it is suprising how tight things get when you
start trimming seats.
I've managed to make an extra 15mm by swopping the column brackets round so the wheel comes toward me a little more, away from my knees. I think
a 300mm wheel would be enough now so at least that widens my choices a little more - still going to be a problem for SVA though
I really need to find a small wheel which can be modded for sva - maybe just a pad like Europa sell?

I made my own crash pad using a thin bit of ali and some Confor foam and covered it in vinyl. It was simply cable tied to the wheel (Outside the test
centre door because I forgot to do it the night before!). Nothing was said at SVA.

Interesting ....... what type of wheel is it? Got any pics to give me an idea of what is needed to get it through sva?

My steering wheel is a Mountey one similar to the M-Range by the looks of it. Not got any pictures of the pad i made and I forgot to look for it while
I was making my boot in the garage just now. Will try to remember tomorrow.
You will still need a colapsible bit somewhere of course.

I have an SVA steering wheel pad that you can borrow to get an aftermarket wheel through.

I'm 6'2" and not a slim jim I get into the indy with a standard sierra wheel. did use the adjustable column though.
And will be changing it for a smaller (flat bottomed) wheel.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Thanks Andy - I've managed to get hold of a Miata steering wheel crash pad. Apparently these are installed to all these imports, presumeably to
get through import inspection. It looks as if it might do the job with a little surgery.

Scarily they come like it from the factory! Take it off to find a nice momo wheel!
