Carlisle DVLA
Hello
I want to register my car at Carlisle DVLA since its just round the corner from the SVA test station.
I spent an hour on the phone to swansea, who could tell me that i might need to maybe do something maybe if somebody maybe happens to notice something
and that probably somebody will maybe decide on the day and that really maybe possibly the probably way forward is to go to the local oriface in
person.
So as you can tell I'm now awash with useful information. What i'd like is to turn up with the car for SVA, bloke comes over and does
built up vehicle inspection, i walk over and get my registration documents.
I know its not quite as easy as that, but what I'd really like is to avoid having to come back to the uk to take the car to the inspection.
Anybody got any contacts at carlisle DVLA or registered their car there and care to share their experiences?

Any particular reason for choosing Carlisle for SVA? I would have thought Beverley would be easier (assuming you are only coming over for the SVA)
If you're visiting/stopping with relatives, just ignore the above.

I know this probably isn't much help, but every DVLA office varies. My brother just went to Maidstone and they inspected and registered it
there and then. I went to Luton who arranged an inspection at a third party site a week later, they then took half a week to reguister it and send me
the documentation.
Probably best to ask on here for people who have recently inspected/registered all in one go...

IrvineD is going to carlise as thats the closest place to his parents and where the car is now stored.
What needs to happen is for everyone to give him duff information so i can complete my car and register before him
and i mean REALLY duff information. regional DVLA's are not contactable, you have to call swansea and get them to request that the carlise dvla
call you back (well thats what happened to me)

Oh yes, and they may tell you that they will not put you in touch with the localk office, but you have to drive there and see them in person.
But the good news is if you've got a big box of paperwork you might not need an SVA test at all!!!! Twa*s
As happened to me yestrerday

Ah, i phoned the DVLA (swansea) about trying to scrap my old donor and keep the registration details - didn't want to break the law etc
............
after about 4 departments and the entire office being able to quote my exact argument word for word (i'd said it so many times) they decided i
needed to speak to brum DVLA and got them to contact me. They where REALLY helpful.

I knew this was never going to be easy, oh well! Hopefully i can turn up with the car since its en-route and pester them enough.
I dont really mind if i dont get the paperwork, although that would be hella sweet, as long as i dont have to make another trip just to get it
inspected.
I have been dreaming at the thought of driving it back to holland straight after though.
Cheers

you'd never make it !!!!!!!!!!!
just make sure you give me plenty of warning so i can load up the car with tools to come and fix what ever you break en-route.
(and give me a warning of how big a hammer i'll need!)

Smart ass!
Well you know its my policy never to turn up to the ferry terminal on time anyway. I'm fairly convinced I'd make it, i mean whilst the
carb/points/coil whatever arent what you'd call performance tuned, its pretty predictible.
Its got nearly 150 miles on the clock from the SVA trip, and im quite pleased with it, overheating problem has been resolved finally, just need to get
the right spark, at the right time with the right amount of fuel.
If you fancy a trip up for a few days, your welcome to come up with me.
Assuming the ledgislation doesnt change, it would be a good experience for you
I would say you can even borrow my starter motor afterwards
