Date of first registration on V5

I'm waiting for the DVLA to correct my V5 and return it at the moment, although I'm unsure what the first registration date should be....

i've used all parts from a 1988 sierra and a new chassis and body, I think it should be 2006 but allocated a 1988 registration, am I right?

Otherwise if its 1988 what happens when it comes to getting my next tax disc as I imagine they'll want to see an MOT certificate which I shouldn't require for another 3 years???

I hate paperwork.
