Help! 919 blade emmissions
Has anyone got a post 95 919 blade engined car through the SVA emmissions test?
If so, how did you do it?
We have just had ours on an analyser at at local garage to try and set it up for the SVA re-test and we were still miles out on the HC at fast idle.
We were getting in the region of 600 ppm when the limit is 200.
We had no air filter/airbox fitted, mixture screws 1 1/4 turns out and exhaust fitted with two CATS, one in link pipe and other in R1 can.
Guy at garage suggested that CATS were not getting hot enough as one possible problem.
Also tried Snoopy's fish tank valve idea to bleed in air, but these seemed to have little or no effect.
Any other help/suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon

No airbox? Have you had it re-jetted?
Anyhow, I found getting mine really really hot (in around 100C water temp) and suddenly the CAT seemed to start working.
That and Snoopy's fish valves were all I used.

No, not re-jetted.
Originally took air filter out as I thought this may help but air box was removed anyway to gain access to mixture screws. Readings were taken with
engine like this.
Would putting filter and airbox back help?
Water temp. was about 100°C on gauge.

I'm not honestly sure how much difference the airbox would make to the emmissions, as long as you know she won't do more than 30mph with
it off unless you re-jet!
To be honest I had a very similar problem until one day it started to work! I put it down to the extra heat I got into the engine (and thus the cat)
by lots of stationary revving. For the successful test I made sure she was very hot indeed.
Co-incidentally at that point I had re-jetted mine to run with airsocks, but I don't think that was a major factor.
Did you ever get your carbs balanced, maybe one of them is running richer?
Sorry I can't be of more help.
