S.V.A. Test September 16th

Iwas asked on the sva form for the top speed of the car (Luego Velocity,2.0 zetec, head and block surfaced, engine reconditioned but std,dry sump,40 doce webers and dunnell engine management system) I wrote nothing on the form, but when I got my date I also got a letter asking for the top speed again.I know this car is capable of 130 + but why do they need to know this...is it just so as they can see if your tyres are up to it ??

Yes for the tyres also that your speedo reads up to that speed.

Make sure you give a design speed lower than the speedo is capable of & below tyre ratings. I gave 119mph for mine as speedo is 120.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

I put 100mph, this covers you for speedo and tyre ratings. My tester burst out laughing and said who the f@ck are you trying to kid, but passed me (such a loverly chap )

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I agree with mark.

SVA is all about meeting the regulations. NOT what it will actually do.
ie the total weight on my Viento is set at 1200Kgs... Thats more than the Sierra it was made from! But it helps with the braking calculations etc.
The top speed is the same, ie speedo and trye ratings.

eg.
It will pass SVA without a Horn, but not an MoT.
It will pass an MoT on the braking but Fail at SVA (as mine did )
Everything has to meet the regulations to pass. Thats what its all about.

To Me its Daft, as a SVA should be everything that is required for the SVA... AND meet the MoT test as well. as you can currently build a car that will pass an SVA and not be fit for the road MoT wise. The two test should go hand in hand.

Just my 2D worth.
