Selling the remains of the donor with/without V5
Is there any harm in selling the remains on my Escort donor with the V5?
I'm quite happy to get a Q plate - indeed I've noticed that the donor engine number doesn't match the one on the registration
document anyway.
Or should I update the V5 with the correct engine number and retain the new V5 as proof. Or can I sell the Escort with the V5 and keep a copy for
registration time?
Confused!
Thanks in advance,
Simon

if you dont mind a Q plate i suppose it makes no odds! If you sell it with the engine in, it might be best to correct the DVLAs records. If it turned
out to be a bent engine you wouldnt want to be imlpicated!

You will need some proof of origin for your engine as well as date of manufacture. You could change it on the V5 then sell the v5 retaining a copy.
Otherwise write to Ford and request a date of manufacture for the engine

I finished stripping the Escort on Saturday night. Even had the neighbours' fireworks going to mark the occasion.
I'm still a little bit in the dark as to what to do with the rest of the Escort/V5.
I've taken all the main stuff out for using in the Locost (engine, gearbox, prop, axle and the other bits and bobs mentioned in the book.) The
remains of the Escort are in my garage declared SORN, not scrapped.
Given that I'm quite happy with a Q plate, do I need the V5 at all? What do you actually have to show?
Thanks,
Simon
