Firewall and SVA

Hi all,

Do you have to have a "sealed" firewall between you and the engine compartment for sva?

Obviously its going to almost impossible for some of us to achieve that with all the various pedal boxes around but mine will be a pig to box in and I was just wondering whether its a requirement?

Cheers

Geoff

No you don't for SVA .

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Only a requirement for racing. You can near enough sit on the engine for road use should you so wish.

Although it's not a SVA requirement, I chose to make a fully sealed firewall between me and the engine compartment. There are a few reasons why I did that:

1. The engine was built by an amateur (me) so there's a slightly increased risk of an engine fire.

2. If there is a fire, I don't want my feet and/or legs roasted while I try to stop the car.

3. Even the best of engines give off oily fumes, and I'd rather they didn't get into the passenger compartment.

Just my choice - others I'm sure will have different views.
