Built up inspection news.
I had my built up inspection today,
The guy that did it said that soon they would be done at SVA. He openly said how daft it was to have to make 2 trips 1 for SVA and 1 just have a look
at a few numbers.
I know some areas have home visits but some dont.
Anyway should have my plates in about a week.

That's what you think!!!
Then again, it sounds like your examiner at least had a bit of common sense....
I still don't see what the examination is supposed to find that the MAC doesn't confirm. After all, at my "exam" the bloke
cheched the chassis number was the same as written on the top of the MAC, decided it was too cold to look under the car at the engine number.... Then
said I'd pay motorbike road tax (because it's a BEC) and that I'd be on an age-related plate based upon the VIN plate (2003- which
would have well and truly shagged me re emissions when the engine is a 1990 bike engine on carbs!!)....
It's useful to find out the name of the person who is dealing with your application just in case they need some gentle persuasion...

I didn't get a DVLA inspection.
When I went for registration, the bloke said if SVA has seen all the relevant numbers, that was fine by him!
I didn't argue.
(that was 2 1/2 years ago though)

Yeh, but the DVLA at my place (Ealing + Borehamwood for my sins) where insisting on an MOT because "they weren't sure how old the parts of
the car are...."...
They said if I didn't agree with how they were doing things I could put it all in writing.... Big mistake Anyway, I did and CC'd a copy
to the complaints dept @ Swansea (cos I was pissed off!)
I simply requested that they tell me exactly what aspect of the dynamics of the car they were worried about that an MOT would show up but an SVA
wouldn't... Strangely they rang me back the next day and said I didn't need one.....
I just think they're fecking lazy!! 2 weeks after my DVLA exam they said not only had they not got the report but they couldn't get hold
of the examiner until the end of the week to tell him to get a flipping move on (they were unable to tell me what the mystery communications blackout
was!).. I told them that if it helped I had his mobile phone number from when he rang to book the examination- they then decided that maybe they could
after all get hold of him after all.....

They don't, but VOSA and the DVLA are different government organisations and therefore can't possibly trust the other.
