GGGRRR.....Snapped bolt
Hi guys,
i've just mounted my engine/gearbox onto my MK Indy and over tightened the bolts on my engine mounts...one bolthead snapped off leaving 7
holding the engine. Will SVA man fail it? Should i weld that part to engine or blagg it by evo-stick broken bolthead ack on. Help.. or how can i
remove snapped thread, have tried drilling it out but no way...

I can't coment re SVA but my road car (Rover 800) has only one of two bolts in the engine mount from which the engine hangs at the cambelt end.
It went through an MOT like that this year with no comment from the tester - maybe just that he didn't see it, but he is usualy fairly thorough
on things like that!!
I tried drilling the thread out recently when I had the head off and all I did was blunt some drill bits - vry hard bolt obviously so I don't
know what caused it to snap.

I done this but managed to drill it out after about 4 hrs of hair pulling and griting teeth,if it didnt come out i was going to try and weld another
bolt onto it.
I know its only M8 bolt but i thought it would be worth a try with a smaller M6 bolt and a touch of weld.

Luckily i didnt have to bother as it came out at last gasp attempt with small drill (3mm)and some pursuasion.
I was told to try this if all else failed so its got to be worth a go,trouble is getting a slash of weld on an M8 and smaler bolt.
