carbon can need for shield
Spent today trying to get two carbon exhaust cans and failed totally. None of the shops even had 2 identical cans and most had razor sharp tail pipes
(thought they looked rubbish like that as well).
Oh yeah plus I got some down pipes only to find they would never fit in the car cos the steerings in the way, bit stupid, should have checked
first...
Reason I'm bothering you lot is am I correct in thinking that since a carbon can doesn't get very hot (I can hold my buggy’s even when
it’s been running a while) I won't need an exhaust shield for the test??? I'm going to wrap the rest of the pipe in that blanket wrap
stuff.

You don't need an exhaust shield for the test, you just need an exhaust that has no sharp edges.

No need for exhaust shields anyway, SVA doesn't call for them.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Oh!, cheers I really did think that was part of the requirments since it was in the book. In that case I might rethink the carbon can all together
now. Strange how they make such a fuss about a bolt head and not bother about a roasting can. I've got a big burn (an old one) on my arm from
just such a thing.
It's all just getting too easy now!!

as said above - all you have to do is ensure no sharp edges. 3rd degree burns are ok as long as you dont draw blood on a sharp edge.
It is very worrying when youve been on a blat or drive to the shows. Park up and there is always someone wants to look or chat about the car. This is
well cool but you have to remind them not to get too close to the exhaust. Young kids scare me for this very reason.

I did look at gettign a stick on sign "WARNING HOT!" type stuff but couldn't find one; could be useful if you don't mind the
extra weight

Hmm yeah the stupid kid...tricky
Kind off reminds me of the buggy’s fan belt, 'no ones stupid enough to put their hand into a moving fan belt!!'. Got a bollocking off a
dad who had just grabbed his son's hand before he nearly did just that when I was stuck in traffic. Fitted a guard after that...
Was looking a cans in the shops today, what a load of rubbish. All were just chrome (cheap last a day type) some where even totally empty, I mean no
baffle’s, wadding perforated pipe nowt!! zip! £175 for an empty can, what a rip off
Think I'm just going to get out my motor bike catalogue instead...
