Ali dash is OK if it meets the requirements. Wouldn't recommend watching TV whilst driving tho'.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Are you putting a finish on the 'alloy' ?
You don't want to blinded by glare at an important moment

Agreed, the glare from any shiny dash (including painted) can be very distracting, especially in an open car.
Ref the lcd screen, it will still need to conform to radius regs but otherwise it should pass ok.

Don't forget the bottom edge needs to have a 19mm rad.

I made an ally dash with 40mm diam tube bottom edge, covered it in vinyl. Easy enough if you have TIG technology...

heavy? the Al sheet is 1mm thick & the tube about 1.5mm wall - the thing weighs nothing.....
bob
(tube looks thick walled but that's just where it was 'dressed' (hammered) to get a bit of a radius at the end.

What LCD screen are you using?
Have you checked to see if you can actually see it in daylight?
Unless it's a transflective screen I doubt you'll be able to and I doubt the old bill will accept "I couldn't see the speedo
cos it's too sunny" as a valid excuse.
