BEC engine age
sorry if this has been covered before.
Ive just rang Yamaha with my r1 engine number asking them for the engine age for SVA/registration.
after being told the age on the phone the bloke said that if I wanted it in writing i'd have to send a letter in with a -£50- admin fee!
now, since i'd rather not part with 50 notes for a letter, what are my options?
Is it needed for SVA? I thought that post-95 engines needed to be tested with a cat anyway? (which it has)
If i dont have proof is it a case of it getting tested with a cat on (harsher emissions due to unknown age), and the same emissions for further MOT
tests?
cheers all.

You only need to prove your engine age if it is pre 95. Your R1 engine is a cat test if you can prove its age or if not, so don't bother with
the proof, unless you want an age related plate based on the engine's age.
