2CV headlights
Will they fail SVA?
Im pretty sure they dip down but not to the left. Is this going to be a problem?
There are obvious clips at the top of the headlamp bowls which will fail on sharp edges but what about the beam?
Thanks
Geoff

Dax units arnt 2CV, however they did use to be. Not sure how long ago they changed.
If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

This whole headlight thing seems to be another of those gray areas.
I have purchased some dip beam headlights from Westfield which are the small projector type used in the XTR2. Westfield assure me that they are ok for
SVA.
Powered them up recently to have a look at the beam pattern, and for the life of me they look like they just have a flat cut off.
I have looked at the SVA manual and it has a note on the beam pattern diagram that states "An alternative headlight dip beam pattern (not being
one of the examples given in this section) is acceptable provided all of the beam upper edge, including any "peak" is contained within the
appropriate tolerance band.
So, it looks to me like they are saying you can have a kick-up, but if you do, it must be to the left side and the position of the break from
horizontal to the kick-up must be within the parameters.
If you don't have a kick-up then there is no break point.
They also say in the notes that some headlights will not have an image kick-up or break point.
As far as I can see, flat dip beam patterns are ok provided they stay under the cut off line.

You kind souls!
I didnt read any aggresion into anyone's replies but thankyou very much.
Guess I'll just see what happens at SVA then?
They arent ideal since mine have external clips with sharpish edges which I think will need covers but its about 110 quid for new headlights from
premier and places so maybe its worth a try.....
thanks

You can always borrow a set for a (re-test) day!
It's only two bolts to remove them! & some of those smoke pipe things.
Cheers

The Dax Supplied rectangular 2cv/dyanne headlamps should be fine for SVA, i have these for my dax, dont have any sharp edges or clips??.
Due to the rarity of the citroen lights dax offer different rectangular headlamps now (off a van or similar commercial vehicle) with their own made
back cases.....
HTH.

I guess 2CVs registered in this country must pass MOT so lights should be ok for SVA. Or is that too simplistic ?

My department at last, 2cv h/lamps will have correct dip pattern if bulb is installed correctly (i've lost count of the amount we put right when
servicing), on some lamps there is a black plastic slide which enables a switch between r/hand and l/hand dip

Woah an expert! Thanks for the 2CV info!
Mike - be good to see you, give us a call for directions since we've moved dont forget!
Thanks for the replies everybody - I shall just need some clever ideas for something to cover the catches on the top of the bowls.......methink the
vacuum forming machine may be dusted off!
Cheers
