MNR @ Newcastle
Anyone had their MNR up to Gosforth SVA in the past.
I understand we have just had a major fail on some of the steering and suspension parts.
Just wondering how many MNR's have been through Gosforth and what peoples experiences have been like.
I know Chris recommends Beverly but I don't have the facilities or resources to get my car down there when it's ready. I would like to
think all SVA stations are the same!
Anybody used the Carlisle SVA???
Steve

hi steve i wouldnt worry too much it was the camber adjusters and steering rack extensions because they where made of alloy that they didnt like,
tried to cotact the chap there to provide him with material specifications and manufacturing details but he declined to return any calls, quite funny
though he failed the front camber adjuster screws but passed the rears
i once went with one of our own cars for sva they where pretty keen but mainly just common sense stuff, unfortunately the battery went flat so the
test was stopped as the car couldnt start under its own power. i never went back there as it is a quicker journey to beverly plus beverly have more
inspectors and more availabilty for tests
and they actually answer the phone so you can book the apointment

Thanks Marc, what do you think are my options? Can you get a material certificate for the aluminum bits?
It looks like he didn't notice the mushrooms that fit into the top of the uprights. If they are all painted black can he scratch the paint off
to see what they are made of??
Any chance of steel steering extensions?

hi steve, yep have all material certificates etc, the annoying thing is the majority of other makes of cars we have had through our doors for various
mods etc appear to have made all similar components in most cases from just cheap mild steel bar rather than a proper graded and certified material,
he is right to question the quality of the alloy its his job but in this case he is wrong and has not even had the decency of returning a call so i
can prove conformaty and quality of these parts.
should have some steel extensions somewhere, on the other parts its just going to be pot luck, as some parts passed and some parts failed, dont you
just love the consistancy
best regards
