Hi , write or take a letter to local DVLA tell em you are building a kit car & proposing you chassis no & ask if O.K. with them. Seems some
say ok other will allocate a chassis number for you to stamp.

If you make up a 17 digit no. composed of no.s & letters which is unlikely to be duplicated this should be satisfactory to them
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Needs to be permanent on chassis at front end drivers side normally in addition to a stamped plate. Keep it tidy though & minimum size for teaps
cant remeber the size at the mo. someone will confirm. as you say once approved!

When inventing a chassis number, certain characters should not be used - I think "I" (as in India) "O" as on ostrich. But do a
searcch- this was covered quite recently

Minimum 5mm letter height and no 'I' or 'O' (substitute 1 and 0 [zero]) as stated

yes it has so I won't bother retyping.
I made a plate and riveted to scuttle; other one was stamped on to a cleaned up area of chassis then varnished over to stop it rusing.

I stamped a plate and welded to chassis. DVLA dont like rivet on (or at least Stockton dont). I also engraved the number to an easier to access
rivetted on plate so SVA man didnt have to go looking.
After SVA and registration i also put the chassis number on loads of components and other areas of chassis inc loads of hidden places.
