Quick MOT question
My charade GTti recently failed it's MOT. All easy fixes which I've done. On the failure sheet it just says "screen" written
in pen after all the other failure points, no other details (not like the computer printed writing on the rest of the sheet) I have a few more days
when they'll just retest the failure points but I can't afford a new windscreen at the moment.
Because it's written in pen will it be on the computer system? It's a small crack on the screen which I will replace as soon as I have the
money, i'm not planning to use the car until then anyway. Is it down to the individual MOT tester/does it have to be on the computer system to
be official? Probably clutching at straws but thought I'd ask

Cracks and chips on the screen have to be bigger than 40mm in the swept (by the wipers) area or 10mm in the swept area in front of the steering wheel.
Anything less than that should be a pass (with an advise notice).

No screen = no screen failures + no washers & no wipers
It's all in the manual
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

sounds like the tester forgot to put it on the list of failure items so won''t be recorded on the system although it won,t stop him from
failing it this time round if he spots it. if you dont take your fail sheet he will have to reprint a copy of the originals which won't have any
reference to the screen defect manually written in or as said if its so obvious a defect you can remove the screen etc and present it without. if it
aint there he can't test it, just part of the game
A pint for the gent and a white wine/fruit based drink for the lady. Those are the rules

You can get screen repair kits (from Halfords? ) which inject resin into the crack which magically disappears.
Or as a temporary bodge, you could try running a little light oil or gel into the crack just before the test.

Must remember not to accidently spray the washer jets if I take the screen out ^__^

Odds on that the crack will grow or even shatter the window if you try to take it out.
My Donor Sierra had a front heated screen which still worked so I tried to remove it to sell on ebay. Unfortunately a tiny stone chip on the
passengers side grew into a crack that extended from the edge to the middle bottom of the screen rendering it useless.
