mine was too lean on the lambda, discovered I had a tiny leak around the exhaust headers.

copious amounts of fireweld, and it passed next time. (borderline too rich, as i'd actually been running it too rich to overcompensate for the false lamba reading)

also anything like an AIS system will give a false lambda by dumping fresh air into the exhaust to burn off hydrocarbons.

as far as I know, yep. take it off and blank the holes.

or in my case, I left it on and blocked the big sucky pipe that draws air from the airbox, and I also nipped the vacuum pipe from the 1st cylinder so the valves wouldnt work.
(r1 specific)

regarding the headers, I started it from cold and put my hands near them. there was a definate 'warm spot' inbetween 2+3 which gave it away a bit.
kept applying a bit of fireweld and trying again until it went away. looks a bloody mess now but no more SVA!

all of this is my experiences and I could be well off the mark. Someone more informed might be along soon to give some better answers.

Whipped the AIS off and blanked it off with some ally plates and found a tiny blow from the back of one of the headers so might be on track now
Will whip it round to a local garage and see

All else fails MAC1 to the rescue!

cheers guys

Does cost a premium mind, but one well worth paying for a very successful pass rate.
