MOT?
Is it the case that the car is classed as 'new' irrespective of age related plate (which implies used parts).
Can they/do they ever require an MOT?

MOT
My understanding is that all cars require an MOT 3 years from the date of registration.
My car passed its SVA test this time last year and has a Q number. I have had a tax renewal form from the DVLA and this requires an MOT to be
presented to re-tax the car. I know from other posts that this is hotly contested and should not be the case.

No MOT required for 3 years from first reg.
If the post office give you gip, then buy your tax online. It worked for me.
Don't be tempted for a post sva MOT as this will mean needing one every year after.

I SVA'd my Car last year and the SVA is above the MOT (MOT on Steriods).
I now don;t need an MOT for 3 Years.
However if you MOT you car " to check for SVA" then you enter the MOT system and need to do it every year.
Car got an age related plate.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Went to the local DVLA today to check out the reqs. for registration. Seems that they reckon no MOT at outset but then MOT required a year hence. This
suggests to me that they view the SVA as the first year's MOT.
I wonder what the legal implicatons are insurance wise etc. if one were to avoid the MOT for three years regardless? Tax online etc.
Just a thought
By the way that's for age related and therefore x amount of the vehicle from specified donor.

Our first MOT is due in about 5 days time, 3 years since SVA, no problems at all with the road tax every 6 months. Although not had an insurance
claim.
Driving on an old S (78) plate.
