M#!%$ F@£$%^£ DVLA!!!!!!!!!!

Just got my tax licence application...
Despite having completed SVA last year and despite trying the online application they're still demanding an MOT and I've just noticed the silly MoFos at my local office have put emissions limits on my v5 despite being a Q plate.....

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

I've now got to waste more time with these incompetent f'wits......

If they'd taken a couple of days to do the registration I wouldn't mind but they took 5 weeks to do it and even then compeltely ballsed it up!!!!!

At least they got the duty right (it's gone up to £115 apparantly)...

Ust had the very same issue Ben. I got so peed off with them after speaking to several different muppets I just bit the bullet and had the car MoT'd (clear pass) and re-taxed it. OK it cost me mnoey, but I really couldn't be arsed to argue with people who make up the rules as they g along

If its a Q plate, they are right I am afraid. Only cars which get an age related plate get no MOT for 3 years. Q's have to have an MOT after the first year.

The emissions are printed on my V5 as well. But you dont need to take it to an MOT, so the station should just do a visual check on it anyway

I believe David is right, with a Q you do need MOT from the word go. As for what is written on the V5, I think that is a record of what was tested at SVA, not necessarily what should be checked at MOT (although for non-q cars these are one and the same).

I wrote to the DVLA a while ago, and got the following response (2 pages):
DVLA page 1
DVLA page 2
At my last tax renewal I went to my local DVLA office and spoke to the bloke on the counter there, who in turn went and spoke to an inspector. The decision was that an MOT wasn't required, and I got my tax on the spot. Mind you, that may have been because the inspector didn't know the process either! For the record, I think it's daft as well.

I've got to go and get my first genuine MOT in the next few days - the car's approaching 3 years old!

I remember a post here from someone who had sent his Q reg V5 back to the DVLA to have the emissions removed - as with all things DVLA related whether they will for you is likely to be random.
