Are you fitting 2 wing mirrors? You may not need a centre mirror if you are. I fitted one of the little chrome ones and you can only just see between the seat backs and the roll bar, bit of a waste really.

Pete,

I don't have the manual to hand but from memory I'm pretty sure that the interior mirror was mandatory with minimum size and a % rear view, unless there is a solid wall that it can't see through.

Cheers,

Colin

Correct,

Min Req is one interior (not Vanity!) and one Off side.

If there are internal bulkheads thet will block any rearward vision then one is not required.

Must be marked appropriately and have mouldings round edges.

Adjustable from the driving position

40mm High by 80mm wide (reflective surface not ege to edge.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replys but on the subject of 'must be marked appropriately' what does this mean ? I have checked my own car and there are no markings on that and the new mirrors i have brought have no markings.am i missing something?

also my mirror seem small but i guess at 55mm by 105 mm they must be ok

thanks all for your time

The guidelines state:

" all mirrors must cary an acceptable approval mark, E, or e together with I on a class one interior mirror or III for a class two exterior mirror"

Pick out of that what you will, i cant figure it out.

I have aftermarket bike mirrors (ZXR400)fitted which are not E marked and the tester said at SVA (3 years ago) that the two wing mirrors were adequate without the centre mirror but as it was fitted it was tested for edge compliance but not viewing. As far as he was concerned it was purely cosmetic.
