Well if I'm to SVA to hell with the steel shell!
Well if I'm to SVA to hell with the steel shell!
If I'm to have my mini mojo SVA tested i might as well ditch the shell (wich will probably rust, again!) and go for a complete fibreglass body
shell.
I've already got a fibreglass front end, bonnet, boot and doors! So might as well go the whole hog!
The only reason i was trying to keep the shell was to keep the registration and avoid SVA but as I'm now going to SVA they'll probably Q
plate it anyway!
shame not to keep the reg plate but I'm not that fussed.

I think you were changing too much at once to hold onto the registration. You could have changed the engine then later the suspension etc each time
modifying the details on the log book. Think of all the old landrovers that are really not the same cars at all due to all the swaps over the years.
Some times though it just isn't worth involving the DVLA at all as all you need from them is a tax disk..
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

when you eventually modified the monocoque though, it'd need an sva, so you may as well get it out of the way while the regulations are still
reasonably lax.
you'd never have kept the original registration, just the prefix or suffix of the plate, just to clarify.

Some old land rovers etc are like triggers brush. Been around since adam was a lad, only had 3 bodies, 2 chassis, 4 engines, 6 axles etc etc etc.
Ive heard of someone who had a logbook for an old car. Changed details every once in a while and eventually the logbook read a bit like it could be
for a locost type car. Built the car and applied the ID, job done. I dont condone this at all but if you are building a mini from a mini (or from
mini's etc) then it should be possible to make small changes to logbook over time. I dare bet there are several GRP monocoque mini's about
running on the original logbook. Might not be 100% good but as long as they are built correctly, tested and insured etc what is the worst that can
happen? If car was involved in major accident and it was found out would driver potentially face prison etc as a result?
