Silly bl**DVLA
Seriously im sure they do this on purpose just to make more work for them selves...
Sent of my SVA forms....Had a letter from them asking for photos, axle weights, speeds, RPMS, reciepts etc...
Found all the information from the appropriate places (used figures that others have used before)..
Sent off the information only to get a call this week...
It went something like this:
DVLA: I think the car will go faster than 105Mph,
Me: Im not convinced, but what speed should I have put down?
DVLA: I cant tell you that:
Me, what speed do you think the car is capable of?
DVLA: Oh, about 110MPH:
Me: Ok, put 110 on the form then!
DVLA: Do I have your permission to change the form?
Me: Yes!
Repeat this process for every single figure that they had asked for...I was out by a few figures here or there...
They asked for peak HP RPM...which is what I gave them, but the bloke insisited that I was suposed to have given them peak net RPM...
I was going to go off on one about them not having a proper form to fill in, and wasting my time etc, but thought better of it..
Anyone else had to play this silly game?
I need to call the SVA station on monday and arrange a date

What exactly do they do with top speeds and rpm limits? This really is baffling.

this is SVA form - max speed for tyre ratings; rpm at max power so they can measure noise level at 3/4 of that. (not max rpm)

Confirm that the speed rating of your tyres is up to the performance limits of your car and rpm is used to calculate the rpm figure for the noise
test.
5mph on top speed is being very pedantic though dont you think!!

err well a certain someone was in a bad mood and obviously was not a fan of a certain person in a certain show. Funny as I really liked that certain
person cos he was like a certain teacher I had at a certain school.
Not like I’m mentioning names like…
Who was I impersonating? I hadn't noticed, was I good or rubbish?

lol - sounds like Orange Dale Winton on the Lottery show. I can just imagine it "Well, Tegwin, are you sure? So you want me to take 110mph as
your answer? OK, I'll take 110mph as your answer... if that's right, you'll get another box ticked on the form"

If it's about SVA then isn't it VOSA rather than DVLA

I would be a little concerned about the rpm figure you gave them because its meant to be the rpm at max hp not the max rpm of the engine. They use
this figure at the test to find noise levels , if yours is the max rpm of the engine then you may have problems.
What figure did you give and what engine are you using?
