SORN insurance - lockup not at home address

Hi,

I've been phoning round insurers this morning, have bought an MK Indy recently, that needs a bit of work (mainly trim) to get it driveable again. I need insurance for it obviously, but not road insurance.

Adrian Flux can't give me builders insurance because it's registered and SVA'd, they can't give me (is it "lay over" insurance?) because it's a lock up, not my home address.

Anyone got any other idea's? I've tried a broker, but they said minimum age for a kit car with them is 30, not entirely sure how that works for off-road insurance but there we go.

Adrian Flux quoted me just under £1000 for 1500 mile a year fully comp insurance, I'm currently 20.

Any ideas from anyone will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Simon

Get your father or any elderly relative/friend to insure it for you on a ridiculously low mileage policy?

You could probably get it for as low as a Hundred quid which isn't much more than build insurance anyway!

That's what I'd planned to do, we'll get it as low as possible for mileage!
Thanks for confirming that, I was hoping to find another company for my own insurance, but that's the cheapest way it seems!

Cheers, Simon

Can't you get it added to your home insurance as an extra.

I think that's probably another one of the options, I think it's covered as is, but not for what it's worth!

Try Graham Sykes 0845 1300 256 for my 1300cc kitcar it's £85 fully comp, but then I am an old fart.

Bugger, I'll have to give them a try. I'm paying £88.75 fully comp from Adrian Flux, even though I'm also an old fart.
