SVA to go in 2009?
I read somewhere recently that the SVA to go in 2009? Is this true? What is it to be replaced with? There's no way i'll be finished before
then! What if i do the build to SVA standards and the rules all change?
Surely if the SVA is to be changed or revised it can't alter too much as the kit car industry is a multi-million pound industry!
someone please quash my concerns!

Sorry to disagree but France does not get on alright without it
There is NO kit car industry over here and it is pretty well impossible to register a kit or special.
Even running a wheel/tyre combo that was not homologated on the original car can void your insurance and leave you paying for life for running 165s
instead of 155s.
The French are some of the worst for making laws to "protect" themselves.
If you want though you can make your own airplane and fly it

SVA will be replaced with IVA in about March or April 2009. Or, like SVA, it might be late.
Not too much is known about IVA. It will probably be quite similar as both are based around existing construction and use regulations. It is thought
that there will be tightening up of some rules, removing a few loopholes and a general bringing into line with existing type approval regulations. It
will probably be more expensive too.

that was my point. france leave NO room to make your own car. however, the country hasn't fallen to pieces because you can't make your own
car. therefore, it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable to suggest england would make the same moves as france and ban making your own car.
i knew about IVA though. i was just trying to scare rumplitter a bit

Hmm I have heard much the same about France, apparently you have to ask the local Mayor for approval to use your kit car on the road
This from the country that made the 2CV
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

A draft of the new IVA rules is on here.. so I think it's pretty clear it's mainly a tidying up exercise.
