Changing an Engine number.

After blowing up my engine during my SVA test, and getting a replacement from a scrappy. I ran straight into the problem of ascertaining the age of my engine and getting it in writing so I can get a retest.

My friendly local Ford garage were really helpful and determined that my engine is of early 1992 vintage & 1600 in size. Then even put it on a piece of headed paper for the SV man and DVLA.

My next worry is, from what date is it compulsory to have a CAT?

Cheers,

B

Agreed, August '95

Not sure if a letter from a Ford dealership will suffice though. Best confirm with someone here who will know.

Phoned the man at the SVA place to ask him what he wanted to see, and he only seem concerned that it was on headed paper.

The SVA center is local to me, so I am going to show it to him, before I book my retest.

Some bight spark at Ford said I wouuld need an engineers report. I then pointed out to him, it would be cheaper to by a whole new donor car.

Cheers,

B
