SVA Look See Please

I have my SVA date of 12th July, waited 7 weeks for the date to come through and 5 more to wait now
Anyway her are some pics, please have a butchers and tell me if there will be any problems.
Before we start I have a list of things to do, nothing much but I've lost the enthusiasm again and weekends end up being lager consuming fests Cricket booze fest next weekend for England V New Zealand. Seats in the Barmy Army stand. Oh dear...

Central mirror to mount.
Fog light switch to position on the dash somewhere.
Battery cable covers.
All the nut covers on the front suspension.
Boot cover to fix.
Battery to box in. (passenger footwell)
Handbrake switch not working.
Gearlever quick shift and unbroken knob!
Front brake flexy chassis mounts.

At the beginning of July I intend to insure it and drive to the local MOT place for an emission, brake and headlight test without it being registered on the system. Is that legal to drive there??

Front view, any problem with these brackets seeing as the number plate will cover them eventually?

Suspension.

Fuel filter, too low? Not secure enough?

Front exhaust mounting.

Pedals, I have some anti slip tape to go on these.

Biggest worry ATM, will this hanger be OK???

Comments please, sorry for the long post!

Steve

You will need a non slip surface on the brake and clutch pedals - skateboard deck tape or similar.

Grip on the brake and clutch. Edge trim on the front wheel arches?

If in doubt, cover it.

I think you might get caught by the SVA man's radius tool on the back of the seats and on the edges of your exhaust can.

Seats should be an easy one - not sure what I would do on the can unless it runs cool enough to get some rubber on there?

You need to get some pipe lagging and put it on the 2 cross members by yours and your passengers knees...

No, for it to be legal to drive the car there it will need to be booked in with the company and also then registered on the MOT system. I don't know were you stand as to if the car is unregistered at that point. Best bet is to get it trailered there.

I was failed on those exhaust clamps and on eshaust can edges so I made sheet ally covers with edging strip on them, check my photo archive for a side view of the car to see what I mean. I also think you should put nut covers on everything, put strip on the cycle wings.

Pedal tape can be got cheap from IKEA. I would put some padding on the visible diagonal in the passenger compartment, and remember that any edge forward or backward facing the tester can get the sphere to must be 3mm radius, if in doubt make a cover or put something on it it is very frustrating failing on things like this particulaly if you have to go back again!

Bump, anymore comments?

I have reflectors and am going to cover the chassis tubes under the dash with flexigrip.

Any other MNR users had to cover the can for SVA??

pipe edging on front cycle wings, seemed pretty much a must when I went for mine. As said before, nut covers on all front suspension.

Cover around front coilover locking nut.

I had to rotate my exhaust clamp around so the bolt was underneath.

Looking sweet....

cheers

I'm not convinced the bolts on the suspension do need bolt covers as you've got a bumper thang which prevents the ball going in there by raising the floor. I think they often fall off post SVA...

Probably worth sticking a couple on just to show willing though.

Need some herringbone trim around the seat backs.

Other than that seems pretty good once you've done the jobs on your list.
