Hi
I have exactly the same setup, and TBH i messed about for ages and could not get the temp gauge on the R1 Clock to work properly and when i thought id
fixedit with resistors, it just read low.
In the end i brought a proper tempe gauge for water which cam with its own sender that went into the same threaded hole and now its wors properly and
gives a reading as it should.
I would forget the R1 temp gauge on the clock and get a proper gauge.
I also did the same for Oil Pressure, which i would also do.
All the best
Chris.

The r1 dash always displays 'lo' untill the engine reaches 40 degress then it will show the actual value.
That's what my '05 R1 dash does anyway.

Just leave it idling for a good 10 mins or so. It will get above 40 no probs. If it still says LO when the fan kicks in then you have a minor wiring
problem

It says lo until the temp sensor gets to 40°C. Leave it to idle for 10 minutes as stated and it should get really hot.
Is the sensor in the R1 rad or have you moved it? Put your hand on it carefully. If it it hot then you should see something on the dash.
Its only 2 wires. If the wires bell out to the clocks then chances are it is the sensor. You could try unplugging the sensor and putting resistors
across it. Get the right values and the clocks should show a temperature.
