only slightly! i'd try to borrow some compliant lights off a local builder for the SVA, then you can use the minters thereafter!

Hire a bloke...

to walk in the front of your vehicule with a candle powered lantern. You remember - like they did in the '20's...

You need an E4 marking on the lens to prove is compliant for SVA. IIRC...

They don't always look for the marks. As long as the lights comply to the standard they should still pass. It says E4 on mine but if you don't turn the lens they dip to the right (continental).

yours, Pete.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

As Pete says, they don't have to have the marking - but if they don't then you have to prove that they are equivalent.
If they are marked then that's the end of the discussion.

thought any "E" marking was ok. From memory the E number just states the european state where the component was first approved for use, rather than the country it was intended to be used in.

IIRC, it has to be a correct E mark. I heard that somewhere on a thread to do with using an e marked light in a different role, ie a reverse light being used as a front side light. not sure though...

Here's what my SVA manual says:

Dipped beam - C (S - sealed beam, H - Halogen)
with <--- or <-----> or BS AU40

Main beam - R (S - sealed beam, H - Halogen)
or BS AU40

Had a look at my headlights - they show:

HR/C A
02 02
---->

In other words, halogen, dip & main, with sidelight.
