Anything after 1995 is going to be tested to Cat emmission standards so you dont need to know this for SVA. Is your engine a silvertop or blacktop
(relates to the cam cover)?? I dont think the number you quoted is the engine number which should be two letters and five numbers

A ford dealer would change the numbers over from the old engine on to a new engine. If they could be bothered. Its not like many people would check.
So there are loads of zetecs out there with out a number.
For a ford engine upto 2001 it should be two letters. after 2001 its a letter and then a number that shows the month and year of manufacture.
