Will the book chassis accomdate my 6ft 2 inches tall 170 pound frame
Jayce Lane - 21/10/03 at 01:46 PM

Hi guys

I need some direction on whether the chassis in the book will be big enough for my size body. If not what are the suggested increases in overall length and what are the ramifications of extending the chassis.

Thanks

Jayce

Jayce,

You could have a look at the McSorely 7+4 chassis plans, I believe they are for a bigger chassis.

Yeah, the 7+4 is quite a simple mod in that it simply ads 4 inches to the width. In our case it's required to get a wide engine in rather than a wide arse

As for height, I've sat in a couple of cars and they seemed fine, and i'm 6'3". I had plenty of room in Jasper's BEC and that's a book chassis if I recall correctly. I found the cateringvan R300 a teeny bit too snug however!

I dont see hoe adding 4" to its width gets you more legroom...

I'm 6'2" and ermm, have a larger rear surface area.

My car is +4" wider, but standard length. At the moment it has some non descript bucket seats in that take up quite a bit of room, but I can still get in fine.

I'm planning to take out the seats and replacing them with either fitted simple fixed seats, or something like the fibreglass shell type that MK or similar sell, or even the Alu one that MK9R sells. Either option would give me even more leg room and allow me to sit lower.

If you are using seats like those described, you don't even need to make the car wider and you'll fit fine. I've sat in the MK demo car and there is plenty of room

6 foot 5, no real probs.

But again, I have fibreglass seats bolted straight to the floor, and a tiny steering wheel!

You'll be fine Jayce!!
