So i turn up there this morning with all docs, only to be told i need a copy of the build plans??? they wouldn't go any further until i provide
them??
now what?
anybody else had to do this??
That's not mentioned on their website, I think that the person you were speaking to didn't have a clue about what you were doing.
Totally agree, the first thing she said was do you have an MOT......I had already been through this "discussion" with Swansea.....this just tells me that they are as i expected, an incompetent bunch of fools that just want your money!!!!
Is it a locost?
Just give them the book or borrow one
was kind of what i thought, but i said, can i bring th book, she just looked bankly at me, she is only the gate keeper, i couldn't even get to
the adviser.
is there an MK or Luego build manual?
There are so many inconsistencies and discrepancies in the way we, the paying customer, are delt with that the claim that the DVLA workforce are fully trained is just a total and utter joke. Problem is that they are totally in the driving seat and we have no choice other than go to another office. Perhaps we should start a section on here recommending or rejecting local DVLA offices. I will start with Carlisle; Stear Well Clear.
You're wrong, they are not t*****S, they are tossers
Maidstone are fantastic. Went there on the way home from sva, got it inspected and an hour later had my numberplate certificate in hand and was on the
phone ordering them from my local factors.

Chris, There is a velocity build manual from the old Luego that many shuod have on here - I'll see what I can find for you (thnk I might only
have the Viento but then again would they notice the difference?...)
Sorry to hear of your woes - my truly fantastic experience of building mine, going through the SVA and dealing with the very helpful kitcar people at
Brum DVLA was utterly ruined by the main office at Brum DVLA sitting on the tax disc and forms for a week meaning I missed Stoneleigh by 2 days...
EDIT: Chris - I have all of the sections but mostly Viento - big files but will happily email through if you PM address...

MK do have a basic build manual
its just so annoying, and i fully agree that you could get one person who is great and then others who arn't...doesn't help though... for
all i know i could take the build manual nest time, and be told i don't need one!!
Neil that would be really helpful, and unless they are going to measure the bloody car i can't see them noticing, the only saving to this is that
i won't have to do it again....
i just want to drive it, its taken years.....

Sheffield are brilliant. No inspection, no receipts, just fill in the form, new current number plate and tax disc while i waited!
Chris,
I have Luego velocity, GTS, MK Indy build manuals on pdf files. If you want one (or all) U2U me your email address.

"Build plans? There aren't any! If I had build plans do you think I would have had to knock down half my house to get it out of the kitchen
then block our road off for three hours while a crane lugged it over onto the front? I just bolted one thing to another until it looked like a
car!"
I'd have probably got myself barred
Go back, Tell them you've asked dozens of people who've built and registered kit cars, checked through DVLA information on registered kit
cars, and checked the list of required things on the DVLA issued form for registering kit cars. Nowhere is a build plan know to be required as far as
you can see. Then ask them to show you where it says you require one. Don't leave untill they do or appologise for wasting your time.
Or go to another office.

Stockton were fantastic, the girl behind the counter was all excited as she's never done one and I was out the office tax in hand with a new
number in double quick time.
They even waved me off after I told her and Kelly (the kit specialist) what a fantastic job they were doing.

I have to agree, Maidstone were good for me as well.
Had inspection, 30 odd mins later away with new reg number and tax.
All within a couple of days of my SVA.
Borehamwood were rubbish until I had a word with the lad's mum [who I knew through work]. All went smoothly after that!
As Adi said, stand your ground and insist that they speak to their boss at HQ. I don't personally know where bit is or I'd have contacted them direct instead of suffering Manchester but they seem to know and seem to be set right.
This is reminding me of the "Do you not know your own rules?" argument...
dvla are turnips?
Me, being me, i like to go the whole hog, i'm going to take the book, the plans that i have from different people (thanks everyone) and then take
the whole pile along with all my photograohic evidence of the build, and sit there and explain my whole design and construction process to them, and
believe me they WILL listen, if they want to waste my time, i will be doing the same, this will all be followed up, (once i have my reg of course)
with a snotty letter to swansea, advising them of there inept staff and the fact that they are particularly unhelpful at the Birmingham office, with a
suggestion of some remedial re training!!!
The bit that annoys me the most, is that we are paying for this, its not like its free!!
