Filling in SVA form

Just filling in my SVA application form.....

Car has a Toyota 4A-GE 20v engine.

Could someone please give me a steer to the answers for the following?....

Q13 a) Maximum Road Speed ......Is 110 a suitable answer? Tyre rating not a problem.

Q13 b) Maximum power engine speed......In theory my engine will rev happily to 7400 rpm, but should i (can i?) put 6000 or 6500 rpm? Assuming its a benefit to quote low figures for noise test.

1300 crossflow will do 105 mph, think you can do a bit better than that. not entirely sure what difference it makes if your tyres are rated above that.


second isnlt about max rpm but max power - usaully the haynes manual gives the bhp at rpm; I'd would expect in your case about 5,000 or 5,500; obvioulsy this is for noise test at 2/3 of what you put down but you knew that bit.

Q13b is asking when the engine produce maximum power, not how hard it revs (i.e. My Pinto Revs to 6k but max power is around 5.2k)

Quote the top speed as low as you can...
About 100 is good...
It affects the brake efficiency test....
Quote the max power at the lowest revs you can reasonably get away with...
around 5000...
This keeps the revs the sound test is done at lower.

hmmm, but is having your brakes tested to the level the car is capable a bad thing?

Any SVA tester, worth his salt would know a 1600 7 is capable of more than 100 mph.

The noise test is different matter since it is not safety related, in fact bing louder gives advance warning of your arrival!
