Rear brake pads

I'm using Sierra rear brake callipers.
When fitting new pads to the rear it is necessary to push the piston back to gain extra space, this is done by turning the piston and applying pressure at the same time which I’ve done. Is it necessary to have any participle one of the notches at the top (where the raised part of the pad fit into)? Or can any of the notches be used? The reason I ask is someone was telling me yesterday that on Citrons one these notches is marked and has to be at the top.

Thanks for your advice.

No, just wind it all the way back. Then when you've put the pads in, pump it out hard with the brake pedal to adjust BEFORE pulling the handbrake. Pull that first and the mechanism can go tits up!
