Im curious how these stub axles (HG511&512) are installed in a upright.
- Welding? (bit crude, me thinks)
- Machining and then fixing with washers and nuts? (strength?)
- Other options?

Some trailers stub axles are welded in, others are bolted in with one high tensile fastener in the end.
Have just changed some 1200kg axles, they had an M20 socket cap screw holding the stubs in.

Bear in mind you can get these:

for £25 a piece from Randall motorsport and they are copies of std Cortina ones so they fit all the "std" bits that most of us use on here.

fabricated uprights are also available and relatively cheap at £90 a piece complete

PS as for welding them in, sounds crude maybe, but I have seen crashes in autograss hard enough to bend the stub over 90 degrees and the weld was still intact!

And you don't happen to know the dimensions of the rear part that goes into the upright(Thread, length and diameters)?
