Seperating propshaft. HELP!

Due to the new chassis design of the mnr i can't just put the one piece prob in as the rear flange wont go past the chassis in the tunnel nor will the centre bearing from the other way!

It's a dunning&fairbank prop i've undone the centre nut and managed to remove a circlip which i think just holds the bearing in place, but no matter how much we tug it just won't seperate
is this going to be a job for a special tool

me and props don't seem to get on very well

Hi John, I had exactly the same problem. The only way I could get the two apart was to put the bolt back in but leave it undone a little, then get a long crow bar on the back of the bolt and lever it against the other part of the prop. It was really hard to get it to budge but eventually went with some levering. Repeat the process when the two halves have moved apart and the bolt goes tight.

How's progress going, must be going well if you're putting prop in?

Edit to say that I marked both halves so that I could get the two halves back in the same place when in the car. not sure if it makes any difference to balance or not.

Ahh Nice one Stu thats a good idea, now i know it should just come apart i'll give it a bit more umph!

build is going well second time round, things are going it a lot easier without all the time consuming head scratching!

there was no way we could get them to seperate, even with a breaker bar between the joint

so a mate suggested removing the rear uj
so the jobs a goodun
