I'm look for some replacement rubber, but as i mostly do road miles (but am planning a few trackdays nex year). To be honest anything will be better than the OE spec Uniroyals I have on at the mo.

ive had a set and they were good, only thing about track use though i saw a set on a ford puma which had lost parts of the tread blocks, it was a hot day and they looked new and are quite soft and have large tread blocks, think they would be ok when worn down a bit,

I have them on my MNR now, much better than the Halfords crap tyres.

Did a damp track day back end October and they were very good. When I say good I mean there was a fair bit of backfeed and sliding warning from them although I'm not a monster track day driver and didn't pass anybody all day, especially the 4x4 Cosworth Dax

Not sure if EARS have the facility to do so. But getting them buffed down to 4 or 5 mm would make them better for use on these sorts of cars. Both on the road and on trackdays.

IMO it would be better to have 2 sets of tyres/wheels. 1 for track (r888, yoko a032s, a048s etc) then buy some road tyres. Not just for the better grip the track based tyres will give, but for the fact if you ruin the tyres on the track you can just swap to the road legal set and start saving for the next set of track tyres!

If you want to go a step furhter, you could have 2 sets of track tyres, dray and wet! (like some proper slicks or colway formula2/maxsports)

Great tyres....had them before.

I understand the ideas behind 2 sets of tyres, but cost wise i'm unable to do it, hence the reason for searching for the best compromise.

Looks like these are on the shopping list for after Xmas.

I guess it depends on how many trackdays you plan on doing. If more than a couple a year then in the long term you would probly find it cost the same if not less. (ignoring wheels as they can be found cheap as chips on ebay so thats hardly an issue)
The increase wear you put n the road tyres on track you would end up replacing the road tyres quite often. They also wont give as much grip so its an extra waste of them.
I tend to keep an eye on cheap part worn track tyres on ebay (Im lucky to not have to worry if they are road legal asi have a boot to take mine to events!) then they last me 3-4 events and.
For example i just picked up 6 part worn A021s for £80 inc postage, they should last me me all of 2009 if i do the planned 4 or 5 events.
