As above, I have Cortina (Hyundai Stellar) uprights and a LHD rack with 14 M threads, I ordered track rods for a Merkur XR4TI, North American version of Sierra, but the tapers seems a little large for the upright. Plus the agent who supplied the track rod ends wasn't sure they were the same as the ones he ordered. This would be a whole lot easier if I had just Imported a wrecked Escort.

Its the same car except for the external body panels - made under licence
JeffHs - 16/12/08 at 06:14 PMI had problems with this. I originally tried MK 2 RS Escort rod ends with my Cortina uprights (MK 3 Cortina that I dismantled myself).
The escort ends were sloppy in the tapers and would not bone up. I sent them back to the supplier who changed them for some earlier ends with imperial threads on the ball joint - I think these were early Cortina, but not sure. They work ok but I don't think they're 'right' either because they seem to seat too soon so not much thread pokes through.
It's one of the long list of to-dos.

I also have Cortina uprights (Taunus on the continent). The Mk2 TRE are a perfect fit (IIRC cone size 12,5mm, thread M14x2). Wasn't it so that the RS TRE's are different from the non-RS?
I bet this subject has been covered many times now, a search might do the trick.
