Hi Guys
Im in need of your opinions
I bought a 3.38 diff and driveshafts from MNR which i asked to be painted and i have to say im a bit dissapointed with what i recieved this morning!
The paint finish is not good, however this can be sorted with a bit more elbow grease and a few more layers of paint.
What does worry me is when i rock the diff flange (where the prop will bolt to) it makes a knocking sound!! i wasnt sure if this was right so i
compared it to my 3.92 diff ive got and it makes no noise at all and runs smooth. the only difference is the 3.38 has no oil at all, where as the
other does has a bit.
Also i asked Chris if the diff seals could be replace, i think they have been as they look new, however when i was checking the seals i put my finger
behind them and found loads of metal filings!!
I would have thought that if these had been changed this area would or should have been cleaned out
before the seals were replaced.
So my questions are, is the knocking noise anything to worry about? and should i be worried by the metal filings behind the seals?
Im not pointing fingers but need to know whether i should think about using this diff.
Any help will be much appriciated
Greg
my atlas diff knocked a bit, and there hasn't been any oil in that for a long time. i don't know what its like with oil in, but the oil on the gears will dampen any knocking (which is what its in there for really) so i wouldn't worry about that
I think the first thing you should be doing is ringing MNR to discuss your concerns and see what they say...

if youve paid for them to paint it and theyve done a crap job, phone them up and see what happens...
Sorry guys but any discussion like this should be taken up with MNR first if your still not happy then raise it here, never had any dealings with MNR
myself but I do feel they should have first comment,
most unlike me this, must be the christmas spirit
