does anyone know how much to shorten the driveshafts for a "standard" book chassis
Difficult to say, because the measurements will depend on where the rear uprights (and from that, the flanges for the driveshafts) will be, which
depends on your suspension design.
Rather than having the expense/hassle of having driveshafts shortened, why not have a rethink and use standard sized shafts?
The Leugo Velocity XT is a standard book chassis, but uses a full size sierra rear end. They (Luego) therefore can supply the relevant wishbones etc
to suit

using dedion set up , tried shafts in diff to get an idea of what it would look like but they stick out way to wide ????
Easier to buy the axle because all that messing about bit has been done for you, unless you like all that messing about of course!
i asked if luego shorten shafts - they offered to sell me a sleeve so i could shorten my own - about 20 quid i think

erm, actually - no! I got my shaft (oh er) cut and shut with an internal dowel. Once I saw Rorty's solution I decided a sleeve should be used
too.
Im planning on getting one from Luego at some point soon and putting it on the existing shaft.
It works as is on the drive, but I wouldnt trust it if it was floored

Im using standard sierra shafts, my car is plus 2" from book, there is quite a lot of movment in the cv jonts. As mentioned I guess it depends on yor upright location and weather you use negative offset wheels.
