Drive shaft boots
Thinking about it - 26/12/08 at 04:30 PM

Just putting my driveshafts back together. What have others used to secure the boots.
The awkward metal clips that come with the boots or should I bin them and use Tywraps?

Use the metal clips, tie wraps will come loose.

Any tips on getting the metal clips tight without deforming them?

yeah a pair of sharp edged pliers or blunt wire cutters will do the trick. Just get the jaws around the box section on the clip and give it a good squeeze. Itll deform upwards and together, tightening the metal tie.

Pair of woodworking "pincers" works well in the absence of the correct tool. Hook the band onto the tightest ear you can before crimping
