Hi, Ive got the outer grease cap on and now trying to push the rear hub along the splined section of the shaft. Im about 3-4 mm away from the grease cap(see pic) and cant seem to get it any further.

Will this close up once its on the floor with the hub nut and washer? Has everyone else found this difficult and got tips?

Also does anyone know the socket the rear hub nut accepts?

I was slightly worried you'd fitted the wrong bearings but I believe sierra wheel bearings are tapered, therefore will compress and get rid of this gap as everything is tightened up.

Yeah I had the same trouble they will close up. I think you need a 56mm from memory I managed to borrow one from work with a torque wrench, it was about 3' long you nearly turn the car over torqueing them up.

I was left with a similar gap when first putting mine together

a block of wood and a sturdy rubber mallet solved the problem

Cheers guys. I had tried hammer and wood which got it to this point but needs more as all that happens now is the driveshaft slides back on the joint when i hit the hub. Ive been thinking of using a G clamp and compressing the hub with the upright which i might try tomorrow but any other ideas first would be great.

on mine they closed up with a big impact gun my friends lorry garage has.
remember the torque for these nuts are unbelievably tight,more than we can manage with normal bars etc.
