I have the chance to swap my 3:92 sierra lobro diff which I assume it's a 7" with a cosworth 3.62 LSD which I think is a 7.5".

Is it worth swapping?

Can they be swapped straight or do I need to change driveshafts as well?

Is the 3.64 a good ratio for a Toyota 4age with 195/50/15 wheels? I assume it's going to give me a longer first gear and higher top speed?

Does the velocity take a 71/2 inch diff?

I'm not sure if the Velocity takes a 7.5" diff. I guess that was part of the question.

Is the casing much bigger in size and weight?

The 3.92 is best for acceleration and in my opinion better for your engine choice than the 3.62 ratio.

The 7.5" diff is huge compared to the 7" so you would be better off finding a 7" LSD and building a 7" 3.92 LSD for yourself.

I don't think there was a 3.92 7" LSD fitted to anything by Ford.

I'd stick with the 3.92 for all the hassle involved in swapping it.

there are 2 types of cossie 7.5" LSD, both are 3.64

1 - Granada 24v - has the same 100mm CV joints as the 7" lobro ones

2 - sierra rwd cossie - has bigger 108mm joints and bigger shafts and different rear hubs (bigger bearings I think) - so even if the diff itself fits you'd need the driveshafts and hubs




there was a 3.92 LSD fitted as standard in 2.0 XR4x4's (I've got one) - but the 3.62 from the cossie 4x4's and V6 cars are mush more common
