Brakes
Pdlewis - 7/2/09 at 09:03 PM

Ive bleed my brakes today (all new pads / discs front calipers wilwoods new rear sierra almost new) and some of the wheels no longer spin freely when jacked up. The pedal is hard.

Is this normal or have i done somthing wrong. I have never setup a full new brake system before

Which master cylinder(s) are you using? does it/they have an adjustable push rod? It sounds like you don't have any slack in the pushrod, if it is adjustable then shorten it .

I have 2 cylinders one a .6 and the other .75 on my from one wheel spins freely the other spins by hand but stops almost as soon as you let go

While it's jacked up check that the pads aren't in contact with the disc... They could be touching although (as far as I know) that wouldn't explain the stiff pedal

Ive got a similar issue Paul.

Pedal was soft so I bled the brakes to death, (put another 1/2 litre of fluid through!). Pedal has now firmed up, (although not as much as I would like), but something appears to be binding. Havent investigated yet but if I find something Ill let you know!

MC's are .625 front and back.

Crack open the bleed nipple on the wheels that are binding. IF the wheel then rotates freely the master cylinder push rods are over adjusted.(Common problem if you do a search) If there is no change then it may just be the pads in contact with the discs and may rectify itself after the brakes have been used a few times.
